How to Fix NVIDIA Display Settings Are Not Available Error

Method 1: Checking Display Connection

The most important thing that you have to notice first is to ensure that the cable is in the right port. There are basically two main port in your CPU

  1. Intel Integrated Graphic card
  2. NVIDIA graphic hardware

Most people generally do the mistake of insertion of wire in a different port, and they don’t know about them. To identify the port, look below the image.

Blue arrow represents the Integrated

Red arrow represents the Discrete

Step 1: The monitor is connected to the right port by looking at the backside of the CPU.

Step 2: Check the monitor if it is plugged into the graphics port, also known as the discrete port. Then fine if not then follow step 3.

Step 3: If it is connected to another port, then change it. Then, insert it into the graphics port.

Restart your computer after making the changes. if the problem still remains then, follow another method to fix the issue.

Method 2: Changing the Adapter Output

After connecting the display cable to your graphics card and still error is popup.

Then follow the steps below,

Step 1: Restart once again.

Step 2: If the error is not fixed, then check that you have inserted the wire properly.

Step 3: If the wire is properly inserted, then use the HDMI port on your graphics card.

Step 4: you can also change the output directly, for example, use display port instead of HDMI or VGA.

By following these steps, the issue may be solved.

Method 3: Checking NVIDIA Display Driver Service (Updating and Enabling)

There are various NVIDIA services running on a computer if you are NVIDIA users. one of the services which are provided by NVIDIA is display drivers service. The display driver act as the middleman between NVIDIA hardware and operating system. Now I am going to show you some steps to resolve the error. To update the service follow the steps shown below.

Step 1: Press Windows+ R key on the keyboard, the window dialogue box appears.

Step 2: Type devmgmt.msc in the dialogue box and click OK button.

Step 3: Expand “display adapter” and then right-click on your NVIDIA driver.

Step 4: Click on the updated driver.

Step 5: Click on the search automatically for updated driver software, and go for update it.

As shown below,

If you have disabled the service then follow the given steps to start the service of Nvidia

Step 1: Press Win + r key on the keyboard to open the run window.

Step 2: Type ‘services.msc’ without quotes, and then click on the ‘ok’ button.

Step 3: Scroll down to ‘Nvidia Display container Ls’, and then double click on it. Choose the startup type ‘Automatic’. Click on the Apply button, and then ‘ok’. Click on the ‘start’ link to start the service.

Step 4: Scroll down to ‘Nvidia Local System container’, and then double click on it. Choose the startup type ‘Automatic’. Click on the Apply button, and then ‘ok’. Click on the ‘start’ link to start the service.

If the service is already activated then just restart the computer. If the error still pops- up then follow the next method carefully.

Method 4: Updating/Rolling Back Graphics Drivers

There are basically two steps to update NVIDIA hardware i.e.  manually and automatically. For this, we will use the application named Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in this step.

The work of this application is to remove all the residue of the old display driver.

If the updating of the graphic card does not resolve an error then there is another alternative way to resolve the error. Follow the steps carefully to do.

Step 1: Make sure you have installed the DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller )

Step 2: Launch your computer in safe mode after step 1.

Step 3: Select the first step when the application gets started i.e. “Clean and restart”.

Step 4: On your keyboard use key Windows + R. The dialogue box appears in the dialogue box type “devmgmt.msc” and then Enter. The driver will install if not then, right-click on any empty space, and select scan for hardware changes.

Step 5: Now we have two options only.

  1. Either you can search online for the latest driver available for your hardware from the NVIDIA’s official website. (and install manually)
  2.  You can let Windows install the latest version itself (search for updates automatically). I prefer the first method i.e install manually.

To install manually open the browser >  on the Search bar > search GeForce experience > click and download to the first link which is the official website of NVIDIA.

As shown below

After Downloading the driver then restart your pc to avoid the error.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you will be able to fix your problem of NVIDIA Display settings not available using these 4 Methods. These are the easiest method to follow to fix your problem.
