Method 1 – Take Ownership and Then Delete the CompatTelRunner.exe

Step 1: After logging in as an administrator, open the Start menu. Press the Windows key on the keyboard or click the Windows icon at the end of the taskbar.

Step 2: In the search box, type compattelrunner.exe. Instead of opening the file named compattelrunner, right-click on it. A drop-down menu will appear. Select Open file location or hold the Windows Key and Press R.

Step 3: After this, type C:\Windows\System32. In the search bar on the top-right corner, type CompatTelRunner.exe.

Step 4: Right-click the CompatTelRunner.exe within the folder. Select Properties

in the menu that appears. A window opens on the screen. Click on the Security tab and select the Advanced button.

Step 5: After the window opens, locate the Owner tab and choose Change owner. It will display a list of new owners. Click Apply after selecting the account you are using.

Step 6: To change the ownership, a prompt warning will come up. So close all Properties windows that are currently open.

Step 7: Next, change the permissions. Right-click the Compattelrunner.exe file again and open Properties. Once again, go to the Security tab and click the Advanced option and select Permissions. Method 2 – Disable CompatTelRunner.exe from Task Scheduler

Step 1:Firstly, press R, and hold the Windows Key together.

Step 2: Secondly, type taskschd.msc, and then click, OK.

Step 3: Thirdly, open the Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Application Experience.

Step 4: Lastly, choose Disable after right-clicking on any of the tasks listed as Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser.
